WHY: From August 21st to 23rd, More than 1,700 law enforcement officials, community advocates, and concerned teens from Tennessee and across the nation are joining forces for a conference on underage drinking prevention. The three-day National Leadership Conference is designed to support the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws program and includes workshops that feature scientific, evidence-based solutions to problems related to underage drinking.
Underage drinking has tragic consequences on youth, their families, and communities across America. Underage drinking costs the nation $60 billion a year and is responsible for approximately 60,000 youth every year to seek treatment for alcohol.
Note to reporters: One-on-one interviews with speakers will be available immediately following remarks. State Coordinators, youth representatives, and the President of the National Liquor Law Enforcement Agency will be available for questions and interviews.
