Distance Learning

Distance Learning

Distance learning is an alternative training method to the traditional on-site training. It allows for flexible scheduling, reduces travel costs and offers the ability to learn at your own pace in an online environment. In December 2010 the Underage Drinking Enforcement Center (UDETC) began offering distance learning opportunities featuring courses that present best practices and strategies for the enforcement of underage drinking laws and efforts to reduce underage drinking. Funded by an OJJDP grant, the on-line courses are designed to provide basic information and share operational guidelines to assist states, territories, and local communities in their efforts to reduce youth access to alcohol. Participants can receive a certificate upon completion of each course.  For information about advanced training opportunities, please contact the UDETC staff assigned to your state or territory.

Courses available:

Continuing Education Units (CEUs):

When the UDETC developed its Distance Learning Curriculum we were not in the position to offer CEUs; however, we do provide a Certificate of Completion for each course and we can support your efforts by providing (directly to you) any materials we have available to assist you in attaining approval. As far as Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) type in-service hours, it is up to the officer’s enforcement agency to apply for those hours; and if needed we can supply course descriptions, curriculum and course hours in support of your application. If Distance Learning users request a Certificate of Completion upon completion of a course and post assessment but do not receive the certificate within 30 days from the request date, please notify the UDETC at [email protected] for assistance.  We hope this information is useful and we appreciate the work you do in preventing youth access to alcohol.
