National Leadership Conference – 2006

The 7th Annual National Leadership Conference was held in beautiful Baltimore, Maryland’s Inner Harbor on August 22-26, 2006. The conference highlighted underage drinking prevention efforts under the theme of “Charting the Course: Promoting Innovation through Action”.  Plenary sessions and workshops offered guidance for the new innovator and the more advanced practitioner on how to establish, maintain and strengthen linkages between law enforcement and community agencies, including adult allies and youth, in an effort to prevent underage drinking and its inevitable consequences.

The 7th Annual National Leadership Conference was one that inspired new efforts and brought energy to existing ones.  Through the years, this conference has grown to nearly 1400 participants and has become the Nation’s leader in providing information on underage drinking prevention and enforcement strategies that creates healthier and safer communities and saves lives.  Keynote and plenary speakers featured senior level Federal administrators, State policymakers, representatives of national advocacy organizations and prevention advocates who have achieved widespread success working within their respective States.  Special events included presentations by Jennifer Berry, Miss America 2006 and Former Olympic Champion, Kerri Strug, making this year one of the most memorable yet.
